Kim Riches

Counsellor, registered with BACP

I offer short and long-term counselling to adults and young people (16+ years). As a humanistic therapist, I will encourage you to develop a deeper awareness and understanding of yourself in relation to the challenges you are facing.

I work by the BACP guidelines and am committed to putting the needs of my clients at the heart of my work. I strive to develop myself both professionally and personally practicing what I advocate.

Working in the independent school sector for 10 years inspired my journey into counselling. Not only did I discover the joy of being around young people, but I was also exposed to a wide range of emotional situations involving students and parents. I noticed how helpless people can feel about situations and the importance of good support outside the family and school environments.

You can expect to be received in a warm and inviting space where we will initially focus on building a sense of rapport and connection.

Once we have established trust and you feel sufficiently supported we can look at your goals in more detail. We will discuss how you can achieve them, or perhaps what may be getting in the way of you moving toward them.

Each of us is shaped by our past experiences and patterns of behaviour are formed to keep us safe. In therapy, you may wish to examine some of your long-held beliefs recognising where they come from and how useful they are for you today.

From personal experience, it can feel scary opening Pandora's box to discover new things about ourselves. However, being vulnerable in a safe space can bring new discoveries, stronger connections as well as healing.

My hope is to help you find the courage to make decisions you feel comfortable with, be kinder to yourself and others and recognise your self-worth.

I offer a 30 min Zoom introductory session for us to discuss what has brought you to therapy, and your goals and answer any questions you may have.

Appointments currently available: weekdays mornings and evenings, weekends

Fees: from £35 per session
