Counsellor registered with BACP
I’m Lucy, and I offer relational, humanistic counselling and psychotherapy to adults on a long and short-term basis. I have experience of living with mental distress and the effects of trauma. I have learnt first-hand that a dedicated therapeutic relationship has the power to restore our trust in ourselves, the world and others and our unique and innate potential to grow. I believe that understanding and embracing our unique personal and neurological differences creates opportunities to live more vibrantly.
I offer my clients a safe, warm, accepting and curious space where we explore what matters to you and find your way forward. I have a special love of supporting anyone who feels lonely and isolated in their life, for whatever reason. It can be so hard to reach out to friends and family in these moments. Self-doubt and distress take hold. From this place, therapy offers us a way back to ourselves and others.
I work with anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, perinatal experience and parenthood, dementia, mental health, relationship and family difficulties, low self-esteem and intense self-criticism, feelings of guilt and shame, unhelpful coping behaviours, addiction and loneliness. I also have lived experience and expertise of working with neurodivergence.
My approach is relational and integrative. I utilise Gestalt, Transactional Analysis and Person-centred theory to tailor my approach to your needs. I integrate mindfulness and self-compassion practice, which supports a positive relationship with ourselves and others. Most importantly, I will offer you a real, open and accepting relationship in which to grow. I draw on my 18-year career helping large organisations manage change, disruption and recover from crises. This gives me insight into how uncertainty can undermine how we function and the way a supportive relationship can help us find the inner-resilience to thrive. My academic training in existential philosophy is also a helpful resource.
My qualifications: Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counselling, The Metanoia Institute MSC in Humanistic Psychotherapy, The Metanoia Institute, (currently year 4 of 5) MPhil Philosophy, University of Cambridge BA Hons (1st Class), Philosophy, University of Cambridge TA 101, TA East Level 3 Counselling Skills, Peter Symonds Level 2 Counselling Skills, Peter Symonds
